Excerpt Five

…Emily turned her head, causing Zach’s lips to kiss her cheek instead of her mouth.
“What’s wrong?” He murmured against her skin.
“Nothing.” Emily sighed.
“You scared?” Zach whispered.
“No I-” She replied, looking down at her feet.
Zach cupped his hands gently around her heart-shaped face. He lifted Emily’s face up and pressed his forehead against hers, looking her in the eye.
“It’s ok. You don’t need to be afraid. When you want to stop, we’ll stop.” He said, stroking her cheek with his thumb.
Emily closed her eyes and Zach leaned in to press his lips to hers again. She kissed him back, their lips shaping around each others. Zach moved closer to her, pressing his body to hers and wrapping his arms around her slender waist. Emily lifted her arms from where they hung by her sides, placing one hand on his broad shoulder. The other she placed on his neck. Emily felt Zach’s pulse quicken at her touch.
Before she knew it, Zach’s tongue was in her mouth. Emily paused for only a moment. This was new. She didn’t know whether to pull away or not. She let instinct take over. It was easier then she thought it would be.
Zach chuckled, pulling away for a moment. “I’ll be right back,” He said, kissing her forehead.
Emily watched him walk away, then turned back to “cleaning” her locker.
Holy Shit! She thought as she gasped for breath. That was…incredible!
She didn’t hear Zach come back, so she jumped ever-so-slightly when he wrapped his arms around her from behind and pulled her against him.
“I’m sorry.” He whispered. His cool breath sent chills up Emily’s spine. “I didn’t mean to startle you.”
Emily smiled and leaned up against him.
Zach lifted his right hand from where it lay upon her waist, and placed it over her heart. He could feel her heart beating. Its rhythm was fast, almost as though she had just run a marathon.
“Your heart beats so fast.” He whispered. “Listen to it run.”
Emily turned her head to kiss his cheek.
“It only beats for you.” She murmured.
Zach smiled and Emily turned around. He kissed her passionately for one brief moment – though to Emily it felt like a lifetime – and then hugged her tightly. His large hands rested on the small of her back and around her shoulders.
Emily sighed, resting her head on his shoulder. This was her happy place, here in his arms. She inhaled deeply, breathing in his sweet, woodsy scent.
She could taste him on her tongue. It was such a lovely taste. Emily smiled, wishing she could stay in his arms forever.

Footsteps.

“Shit.” They whispered in unison.
Zach released Emily from his hug and quickly stepped away from her; going back about his own business.
“Hey Laura.” Emily smiled, turning to wiggle her fingers at the after-school teacher.
“How’s Mitch?” Zach laughed.
Laura rolled her eyes. “What are you two doing? You know you’re not supposed to be back here…”
“I’m just cleaning my locker.” Emily said, taking a random piece of paper from her locker and waving it around. “You wouldn’t believe some of the crap I’ve got in here.”
Laura looked at Zach. “And you?”
“I’m looking for something.” He mumbled.
Laura rolled her eyes. “Mhmm, sure.” But then she turned and left, hurrying back to her desk in the office.
Zach and Emily sighed in relief when Laura left.
“That was…” Zach started.
“Close” Emily finished.
“Yeah” They both said, laughing.

“I should go…” Zach said.
“Awe” Emily pouted, giving him her irresistible puppy-dog face.
Zach chuckled, scooping her up in his arms and swinging her around. Emily laughed as quietly as she could. She wrapped her arms tightly around Zach’s neck, and her legs she wrapped securely around his waist. She winked at him. Zach wiggled his eyebrows, and that just made them laugh harder.
Zach turned around so that Emily’s back was up against the lockers. He softly pressed his lips to the base of her jaw before he kissed her mouth. He Frenched her for a moment before spinning her around again and putting her down.
Zach softly kissed her forehead.
“Bye” Emily whispered. She turned from him to finish with her locker.
As Zach walked off, he smacked Emily’s butt and smirked at her when she turned around to glare at him.
