Excerpt...Three

Jason had never seen someone as beautiful as she in his whole life.
She was pale, pale enough that she could have easily passed as a vampire, but there was a light shade of pink that colored her cheeks. Her eyes were a pale blue, fading to silver, and then to a deep gold around the edges of the iris. Her high cheekbones were easily balance out by her gorgeous full lips. Her long, dark –almost black- brown hair was curled neatly down to her thin waist.
She was slim. Not terribly tiny, but obviously athletic. She had to be a volleyball player…or maybe a cheerleader…he couldn’t tell. She was curvy, about 5’ 4”, and most likely –or at least he hoped- around his age.
He blushed when she caught his eye. She shot him a radiant smile and walked quickly towards him. Jason marveled at her graceful, dancers step.
“H-h-hi.” He stuttered, wanting badly to look away from her face, but her hypnotic blue-gold eyes seemed to hold his in a trance.
“Hey”, she replied, her voice chiming like bells, “I’m Alice…”
“Jason,” He smiled, seeming to gain some confidence.
“It’s really nice to meet you,” She said, “I’m new here, but I think I saw you in my art class.”
“Yeah.” Was all he could say.
They stared at the floor for a moment, both at a loss for words. He looked up at her again, and noticed that her gaze was distant…almost like it was locked on something – or someone – else.
He looked over her again, his eyes scanning from her perfect face down to her feet. She was wearing a white camisole underneath a dark brown jacket. The colors complimented her features perfectly. She also wore skinny jeans and converse.
“You’re beautiful.” He murmured, not realizing that he had spoken allowed until it was too late. He tried to conceal the embarrassment in his eyes as he looked up to see how she would react.
She only smiled one of those dazzling smiles and replied with a simple “Thanks,” as she turned for her next class. He could swear he heard her giggle.

“So, are we like…friends now?” Jason asked as Alice took the empty seat beside him in the lunchroom after their fifth period class.
“Friends…” She murmured, contemplating the idea, “That may not be such a good idea.”
“May I ask why not?” Jason inquired, a little hurt.
“I’m not a very good friend for you,” She smiled, almost as if it were a joke, though Jason could tell she was dead serious.
It was almost like she was hiding something, though, he couldn’t quite put his finger on it.
